My pasta man

Jeremiah makes pasta from scratch almost once a week. He has the time down to 30 minutes start to finish for the noodles. The sauce takes a bit longer.

"Sit down," he told me today when I offered to help, "I've got this."

This little boy entered the world without anyone noticing...for real.  Not even his mom.  It's a funny story I could share if you haven't heard it already.  It's one of our family jokes.  He makes himself noticed now though!  He has such an expressive face and vibrant personality.  What a blessing it is to be his mom!

Here are a few pictures from our new deck.  From up there, it feels like being in a tree house.  I feel so blessed to live in a place with a lovely view.  We are enjoying our new home, and meeting new neighbors and friends at church.  The kids seem to be adjusting fairly well to the change, although they miss their sweet friends on our old street.  

Good Mom Days

Shaving cream clouds on the kitchen table.  A sign of a good time.   At the conclusion of some days I can say, "I was a great mom today.  I was patient and creative and my kids learned something."  Other days I'm busy or distracted taking care of grown up things that have to be done, but I look back at the day with my kids and think, "We didn't really connect today."  We just went thru the day in our parallel worlds.  One for them, one for me.  I like the days much better when we mesh.

Countdown

These are the best days of the year. I love this whole month. It is filled with fun traditions and gatherings and added small kindnesses to friends and neighbors that make the world seem softer. We've sent our cards and delivered cookies and wrapped presents ( most of them). There is still a lot I'd like to do. As a kid I wanted December to hurry up so we could get to Christmas eve. Now I want to slow it down so I have time to do all the nice things I'd like to for those I love!

My personal assistant

One of Tommy's favorite activities is reorganizing the contents of my wallet. My bag was hanging on a doorknob and he worked awfully hard to get into it. Perhaps he has a future in personal finance.
