Weekend in DC

Every once in a while it's exciting to be completely floored by the power of nature. It's not as nice when your lovely plans get wrecked by 21 inches of snow. Our weekend in Washington DC didn't go as planned. The Kennedy Center closed, so our Handel's Messiah performance was cancelled. I was beginning to wish I had some food storage in the car, because it was difficult to find an open restaurant. We trudged through the snow down the middle of "K" street in Georgetown, (without boots) to find an open Papa John's Pizza. The place was hopping. On our walk back some guy offered us $500 for our pizza. (I'm pretty sure he was joking.) During the heaviest of the snow (and prior to check-in time at our hotel) we decided to try to take refuge at the Smithsonian. That was closed. I couldn't recognize where we were down on the mall because of poor visibility. (That, and the cross country skiiers threw me off) I'm not sure how many red lights we drove through unaware. We ended up at the Lincoln Memorial. It was an odd experience. I'm used to visiting that place in the oppressive heat of summer in shoulder to shoulder crowds. This time it was empty. We couldn't see out as far as the reflecting pool. Despite the unfortunate change in plans, I still had a nice time with my sweetheart.

Dance Party

While I was addressing Christmas cards, Luca went upstairs and got dressed like this. Then he brought me my camera and said that I should take pictures of the show. Add a little C&C Music Factory, and it was a dance party. Luca has some moves!

Decorating

It was snowing outside. We had christmas music playing...sounds beautiful, right?
I decorated the christmas tree while the boys mostly just wrestled and broke ornaments. Oh well. A good time was had by all.
