Good Mom Days

Shaving cream clouds on the kitchen table.  A sign of a good time.   At the conclusion of some days I can say, "I was a great mom today.  I was patient and creative and my kids learned something."  Other days I'm busy or distracted taking care of grown up things that have to be done, but I look back at the day with my kids and think, "We didn't really connect today."  We just went thru the day in our parallel worlds.  One for them, one for me.  I like the days much better when we mesh.

Oh boy can I relate to this post! When my kids were very young, we connected all the time. As they became teens, it happened less and less... I think as a function of their natural growth of independence & rebellion (at times) ...as well as some difficult grown-up problems that we were dealing with. Kudos to you, Joanie... for your insight. Yes, relish the mom/child connection for as long as you can. These are precious moments, for sure. Love You All - MomMom xoxoxox
